Sickingen May Market 2026: A Fresh Start with a New Concept – We Are Reinventing the May Market
The Sickingen May Market 2026 presents itself this year in a completely new light, inviting visitors to five days full of joy, community, and authentic spring festival atmosphere. From April 30 to May 4, residents and guests from across the region can look forward to a May Market that has been deliberately reimagined, offering greater appeal, improved visitor experience, and many shared moments.
In recent years, the May Market has lost some of its former appeal. All the more reason for the Sickingenstadt Landstuhl to take a bold new approach: with a fresh concept, the event is not only being revitalized but is also set to once again become a true highlight in the city’s annual event calendar in the long term.
Visitors can look forward to a significantly expanded range of attractions. In addition to the traditional fairground, a Ferris wheel, funhouse maze, bumper cars, and high-quality rides for children will provide entertainment for all ages. A special highlight is the newly introduced Landstuhl Beer & Wine Village with its own stage, creating a new meeting place for enjoyment, socializing, and good conversation. Throughout all five days, a diverse live music program will ensure a lively and festive atmosphere.
The festivities begin on April 30 at 6:00 PM with the opening of the fairgrounds. As a special highlight, all rides will be free of charge during the first 30 minutes.
At 7:00 PM, the official opening will take place with Mayor Mattia De Fazio, including the traditional keg tapping ceremony. Afterwards, the band “XXL Steirer” will create a vibrant atmosphere during the “Dance into May.” The highlight of the evening will be the grand opening fireworks at 9:45 PM, launched directly from the fairgrounds for the first time. This new setting places the shared experience at the center, bringing everyone together to celebrate and enjoy this special moment side by side.
The following days will also feature outstanding musical highlights. On Friday, May 1, “Martina Extra 3” will perform, while on Saturday, “DJ Izzo Beatz,” known from Dampfnudelhof Mehlingen, will create a lively festival atmosphere. The May Market thus becomes a vibrant meeting place for all generations, especially for families.
Sunday begins with a reflective ecumenical church service, followed by a traditional morning gathering with the Kolping Band Kindsbach and a communal lunch. In the afternoon, visitors can enjoy coffee and cake accompanied by music from local barrel organ player Herbert Göttel. The evening concludes with performances by the U.S. Air Force Band “Touch’n Go” and “UN-ER-HÖRT live.”
Monday is traditionally dedicated to families, featuring discounted prices and special offers throughout the fairgrounds. In addition, a traditional fair meal will be offered again for the first time in many years. Meal vouchers will be available in advance, with three dishes to choose from, each priced at €12.50: a winemaker’s plate with steak, fries, and coleslaw; a Palatinate plate with liver dumplings, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, and gravy; and a Balkan plate with meat patty, fries, coleslaw, and tzatziki. Vouchers can be purchased at several locations: Sport Krauß, the town hall (mayor’s office, Room 125, 1st floor), and Kahrau gas station on Bahnstraße.
